As most of you know, after 68 years of our company, and four generations being involved with it, (Five if you count our 1 year old grandson who started this year in the office in a playpen, just like his mother 20 years ago), Steve and I have decided to hang up our sledge hammers and retire.  To that effect, Wells & Son Marquees Ltd will sadly cease trading on 31st December 2025.

We have managed over the years to survive the Foot and Mouth outbreak, the World Wide Recession and the Covid-19 Pandemic, as well as many smaller irritations that befall any small business on a yearly basis, so we feel that now is the time to step back and spend more time enjoying a different life, and our family.  We feel we can hold our heads up high and be proud of the legacy we've all been a part of.

Alex Bell, who has worked with us for many years is buying a certain amount of our stock, and will continue to supply the local events with equipment.  He has set up his own company, and will continue in the same vein, with some of our staff, although on a smaller scale and we hope that you will consider supporting him in his onward endeavour within the events world.

We would like to thank all of our wonderful staff that we have had through the years.  None of the successes we have had would have been possible without them.  They have worked long hours, tirelessly and continuously to ensure that our good reputation would always be upheld, and we are so grateful for everything they have done.  We will miss them all, and we wish them every success in the world for their onward journeys.

Last but certainly not least, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful, loyal and very highly valued customers, many of whom have become friends over the many years of doing business together.  It has been an absolute pleasure working with you all, and now we have more time, we will hopefully be able to actually attend some of the events instead of turning up before and after, so I'm confident that we will meet again.  We will miss you all and we thank you with all our hearts for your valued business over the many years that Steve has been at the helm of this vessel.  We wish you all the very best for the future and hope to see you again soon.

Once again it has been a very busy year, with many good things happening, and some sad things too.  We're winding down now, ready to begin a fresh New Year, which is looking busy again already.

We will close for Christmas on Friday 22nd December 2017 and re-open on Thursday 4th January 2018.

Please note that we will be closed on Friday 8th December 2017 as a mark of respect for our Foreman, Mr Fred Coles, who sadly passed away last week.  We and our staff will be attending his funeral, which will be:-

11.30 am at Boston Crematorium

We will re-open on Monday 18th December 2017.

It is with deep sadness that we confirm that our Foreman, Mr Fred Coles, passed away on Thursday 23rd November 2017 at the age of 77, after a very short illness.

Fred first joined our company in October 1976 and had been with us for 41 years.  He has been a very big part of the company and was highly regarded by all, as well as a close personal friend of Steve, Jan and Sammy.  He will be very sadly missed by the Wells family, all the staff and our customers.

We send our sincere condolences to his family and our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.

It's been a busy year again here, with plenty of shows and events to keep us out of mischief!  Once again we are honoured to have won the contract to supply the Lincoln Christmas Market and congratulations to them on a brilliant event this year.

We are having a short break over Christmas.  We break up on Friday 23rd December 2016, and we return to work on Thursday 5th January 2017.  The office will be closed during this period.

MRS GLADYS WELLS 25.06.1924 ~ 19.01.2016

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Mrs Gladys wells passed away peacefully in Pilgrim Hospital on 19th January 2016, at the age of 91.

The widow of Mr Clifford Walter Wells, mother of Stephen and grandmother of Sammy, she was much loved and will be sadly missed by all the family.

Mrs Wells worked alongside her husband in the office in the early days of the company, and maintained an interest and supported the company during her lifetime.

Steve and his wife Jan, and hopefully their daughter Sammy will continue to carry on the business based on the values of honesty, integrity and honour, as begun by Cliff and Gladys back in 1957, and will honour their legacy.

The funeral will be held at Boston Crematorium on 12th February 2016 at 1.30pm
